How to use a pendulum (Updated)

How to use a pendulum

The pendulum is a fairly simple device consisting on a chain or cord and a weight.
the weight can be as simple piece of plain stone or metal or something elaborately
constructed and carved.

There are two basic ideas behind it usage. It can be used to tap into the subconscious
mind or as a divining tool of the most basic kind if used in spiritual matters. Depending
on who you ask it can influenced by outside forces or solely on the subconscious level.

But here we will work on the basics of learning to use one. I will not debate or argue
the point on whether it is "all in your mind" or if it is a item of magic. That should be
up to the individual to decide for themselves.

First, as an aid, take a piece of paper and draw a circle on it about 6 inches across.
Now draw two lines through the circle, one vertical and the other horizontal. It should
look like the cross hairs of a rifle scope.

Next, hold your pendulum at arms length centering the weight over where the lines
cross on your paper. Now swing the weight left and right over the horizontal line while
saying the word 'yes', repeat this at least five times. Now swing the weight front to back
over the vertical line while saying the word 'no', repeat this at least five times. Now swing
the weight in a clockwise circle using the circle on the paper as your guide while saying the
word 'maybe', repeat this at least five times. Now swing the weight in a counter clockwise
circle using the circle on the paper as your guide while saying the words 'i don't know',
repeat this at least five times.

You don't not need to swing the weight hard while doing this, just enough to go from
one side of the circle to the other. the same applies to swinging it in a circle.

Now your subconscious mind has been "programed" in how to use the pendulum to answer
simple question.

To use it, simple hold the pendulum in front of you and allow it to hang freely, don't
swing it, it will respond as you ask questions. Start by asking a simple question to
test it, like, "Am I hungry?". Don't force it to swing just let the answer come on it's
own. If you are hungry, it should begin to swing left to right seemingly of its own accord.

UPDATE
MorningMist found a site that has a far more detailed page
on pendulums...

Earthchild article on pendulums link

Well worth the extra time to read it.
